The Education Slot

The education slot this week was delivered by Ian Griffiths and was all about Givers Gain. Wanting to help others that help you. We want givers in our chapter as these are the people who will make it a success. The more we give, the more we will gain.

The 60 second cup winner this week was Steve Butler from Telecom Solu7ions.

10 minute presentation: Sharon Charteress

This weeks 10 minutes presentation was by Sharon Charteress from Mood Design Solutions. Sharon talked to us about using LinkedIn effectively to generate new business leads.

Sharon also covered the 3 most common mistakes that people make:

  • Starting with a sales pitch
  • Not following up after a new connection is made
  • Not taking the communication offline

Her 5 points to successfully generate leads:

  • Target a connection
  • Send a personalised request
  • Engage with the further
  • Build your relationship
  • Move the conversation offline

Her top tips include, start with your existing connections and reintroduce yourself. Comment on their posts, join in discussions and recommend them whenever possible.

Once you have reconnected with your existing connections, then sort through your connections contacts! Find some commonality and start a conversation or even better, ask your mutual contact for an introduction.

Your goal should be to move your conversation off line and to do this you will need to have a good reason and how it will benefit your contact, that way you will be far more successful in your efforts.
